These flowers were so bizzare I wondered if they actually came from this planet. They truely looked liked they belonged to science-fiction.

"Hey look, I am considerably more freaky than yaw"

"Yeah, but they can't see you 'cos I'm considerably more taller than yaw".

(Those who have ever watched The Fast Show-or is it Harry Enfield and Chums?- will get this).

Those are Passionfruit flowers. The fruit itself looks like this: http://www.tablelandsonline.net.au/tropicalcuisine/index.php?cn=passionfruit There are other varieties where the skin of the fruit looks yellow-orange and the flesh inside is a darker red colour.

The seeds inside the fruit are each covered with a soft pulpy "sack". To eat them, don't bother trying to seperate the seeds from the pulp, the seeds are safe to eat but have no flavour (they are crunchy though). In Australia passionfruit pulp is commonly used on baked merangue deserts. http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/img/recipes/recipe_5824.jpg The yellowy-black stuff on the top is the passionfruit pulp with the seeds still in it.
